New Business

Legislative
  • Eric Bryson presented on HB573
  • Asked for Task Force approval for the basic concept of the bill.  The group agreed to support the concept of the bill. Eric offered to draft a letter explaining the basic concepts of the bill that could be submitted in support of the bill and said he would have it to Jenna the following day
  • Refusal bill text passed to the group. The group did not think this bill addressed the real problems with refusals.
Interlocks
  • Stephen summarized a meeting he and Jenna had with Susan Wordal about how interlocks are used/sanctioned in Municipal court.
Upstream Awards
  • Jenna reviewed categories of awards and discussed current nominees. Healthcare is an open category with no nominees.  She’ll ask Shanda if she has any suggestions.
Consistency in sentencing
  • Scott  presented a concern with a lack of public awareness of the inconsistency  of sentencing in DUI trials, especially in District Court . Jenna offered to attend trials where she can if Scott will let her know when one is coming up.
Marketing
  • Super Bowl marketing campaign
  • Bob distributed stickers to several pizza delivery businesses. He was especially impressed with Van’s IGA and their willingness to even sticker 6 packs of beer they sold that day.
  • Talk AM1450
  • Jenna was able to listen to some of Jeff’s interview on Talk Radio 1450 AM. She said he did a good job with some really surprising questions. The radio show host had done some homework and such a range of questions; it would have been difficult to find any one person who could answer them all. They have invited Jeff to return to the show.
  • Other Marketing
  • St Patrick’s Day:
  • The group picked out their favorite poster art.  Jenna will have them produced at Insty Prints.
  • Pow-Wow
  • The group voted to continue advertising in the program for the MSU Pow-wow. Scott  motioned, Eris seconded.  Unanimous approval.
Finances

Lifesavers Conference
  • The state came through with last minute funding of $1000 to cover  Stephen’s expenses to attend. In return, he and Jenna will go to Helena to present on what they learned. Eris motioned to approve Jenna’s expenses for the conference as presented, at about $1200.  Christine seconded. Unanimous approval.
Community Mediation Center
  • Mini-grant request to research effectiveness of the MIP panels they run for the courts. $1500.  To be voted on at the next meeting.
Streamline
  • Jenna reminded the group that the Task Force has had $2000 built in to their budget for Streamline.  The group voted to continue with that funding.  Cherie motioned. Bob Seconded. Motion carried.
  • RBSS funds reallocation
  • Eris said the RBSS trainings became self-sustaining almost immediately after the Task Force granted $750 for costs. ADSG still has $600 of the funds. She asked to use those to attend training on Adolescent Addiction in Las Vegas. Jenna asked that Eris make a presentation to the Task Force on what she learns. Cherie motioned. Bob seconded. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM.
